Making Music Together® -- Together Again!
Health Policies & COVID-19 Protocols:
We are thrilled to welcome you back to outdoor classes this semester! Keeping our families (and me, your teacher!) safe and healthy is our top priority. Out of an abundance of caution, we will continue with the following health policies and COVID-19 protocols. We ask that you review these guidelines prior to your first class, and of course, please reach out to Director Karen Crane with any questions or concerns: (530) 848-9188 or [email protected].
- If anyone in your family is sick, please stay home until you are fully recovered; if you or your child has had a fever, you all must be fever-free for at least 24 hours (without assistance of fever-reducing medication) before returning to class. Please do not put your teacher in the uncomfortable position of needing to ask your family to leave -- thank you!
- During outdoor classes, it is no longer mandatory that adults and children ages 2+ wear a mask when in their designated family spot. We ask, however, that families be respectful of others' comfort level when moving away from their blanket, and have masks available for socializing.
- Each family will bring their own blanket/towel to sit on (I recommend something that has a water-proof side, in case the grass or wood chips are wet), and will remain there for the duration of class -- either on, or dancing around the outside -- unless directed otherwise by the teacher. Please maintain at least a 6-foot distance between your family's "spot" and that of other families.
- Please do your best to encourage your child(ren) to practice physical distancing (we understand it might not happen 100% of the time!). If/when children wander away from their “spot,” we ask that you please shadow and redirect them as necessary, or scoop them up and bring them back to their blanket.
- Families will be responsible for bringing their own instruments/props for use in class -- see ideas below for collecting or making your own from supplies commonly found at home!
- If someone in your household tests positive for COVID-19, or is exposed to someone who has tested positive, please let Director Karen Crane know right away: (530) 848-9188 or [email protected]. We will follow contact tracing protocol, which includes notifying all families in the same class of the possible exposure and of any quarantine recommendations. Names will never be disclosed.
Rain, Smoke & Sick Days:
If we are unable to meet outdoors on a given week due to inclement weather, air quality restrictions, or your teacher's ill-health, we will cancel class and extend the session by one week. In the event that 2 classes already have been rescheduled, we will meet on Zoom at our designated class time, and class will be recorded for those unable to attend. To standardize our decision-making concerning the cut-off for air quality, I will teach outside as long as the index remains in the "good" to "moderate" range according to www.airnow.gov. We will pivot to Zoom if the AQI tips into the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" range or worse (i.e. over 100).
If you are unsure whether we'll be meeting on a given day, please check your email -- families will be notified of any cancellations (or if we are pivoting to Zoom) at least one hour before start-time on the day of class.
